A breath of lightness and magic at l'Orée. In recent days, I witnessed
the transformation of the walls of our dining room and our veranda.
 The first features made in chalk, with precise finishes and delicate frescos.
A breath of lightness and magic gradually became part of l'Orée.
Thank you for having understood so well the use of these two places.
Thank you also for giving us such beautiful things to look at,
to discover with our students.
Again thank you for embellishing daily life at l'Orée.
Like the birds of your frescoes, we, children and adults of l'Orée,
fly through beautiful landscapes painted by you, looking for a moment to dream.

Thank you Paint a Smile.
Thanks to you, to your imagination, this is a new world that awaits us...
The walls seem to have separated to open onto nature, dreams, play, children...

.... March 16, 2015, behold the artists in uniform, the colours, the pots, brushes...
and virtually everything suddenly brightens: the models are installed,
the colours are mixed, there are drawings, paintings - an effective and talented team.

Children, parents, and staff watch, comment, and rejoice.

The grey disappears gradually and finally the unit comes alive thanks to Paint a Smile.

Children look attentive, parents comment, staff details the intricacies

of the moment. We observe the funny, moving, and intelligent scenes;
we look at what happened to the MRI, to the dressings ..

Congratulations to all for your finesse, your effectiveness and your magnificent work,
You stayed six weeks, but we will keep you for years and years...."

Thank you

We went from "grey rain" to a colour palette that escapes from each of the walls
of the medical-surgical unit of congenital and pediatric cardiology.
The corridors are animated; caregivers smile, discovering improbable details;
children follow the journey that began in consultation and continued to the entrance of their rooms.
The entire cardiology team of the Necker Children's Hospital joins me in saying
thank you to the Paint-a-Smile Foundation and Johnson and Johnson for
having enlightened the lives of hundreds of children who found in the frescoes
a way to more gently live their hospital stay. A big thank you also from the nursing and medical team
for having opened our windows to a mangrove, a grotto of rainbows, an ice floe, or a yeti.

Paint a Smile has understood just how important a playful hospital environment is to children
and offers them a space to dream.
A reassuring and colourful world replaces grey, sad walls.
This is how painting can become a protection that will enhance
an often-traumatising hospitalisation experience…

An extraordinary adventure and especially a marvellous realisation,
just what we expected, I would even say more than what we expected…

This team is amazing, magnificent artists, humble, talented, with an enormous heart,
and I know just how touched they were by the patients. Their work is poetic;
the imagination is stimulated and opens a door of exchange through a beautiful voyage.

Again, a thousand times thank you to you all and Bravo

The work of Paint a Smile is based on a grand idea carried and concretised by extraordinary persons.

Each decoration project is of inestimable value to the hospital.

The project remained just as strong today
and everyone directly feels its benefits:

children, parents, and all of the nursing staff.

The association "Les Ptits Courageous" ("The Little Courageous Ones") was created five years ago
by parents of children with faciocraniosynostosis to support families
and improve hospital conditions of the children.
Our children are multi-operated and hospitalisations are long and difficult.

I am the mother of Tom, 8 years old, operated a dozen times at the Necker Hospital.
We live 400 kms away; hospitalisations are very painful,
especially because of the separation from family and the lack of visits.
We spent long moments contemplating the frescoes of the Neurosurgery Service of the former hospital,
Tom still remembers it perfectly. It was for us moments to escape, where each time I visited,
I could tell different stories; then when Tom grew up
we could have fun watching the little extraordinary and beautiful details.

When the new hospital opened, we found ourselves certainly in a very modern place, new, and clean -
but with huge corridors and mouse grey walls not conducive to high morale;
now everyone knows how important morale is to recover more quickly.
When told about this wonderful project, the association immediately wanted to get involved.
The work was titanic, artists are magicians and the result is breathtaking.
What a thrill for me deep in my mom's heart to discover these beautiful frescoes,
to imagine the stars in the eyes of the children and their parents,
and to think how these paintings will soften their often painful daily lives.
A festival of colour, sublime figures, staged and incredible detail,
I cannot even find the words to express what I felt at the discovery of the new unit.

The association "Les Ptits Courageous" is happy to have been able to contribute to this magnificent project,
and on behalf of all of the children, we thank the Paint a Smile team,
the donors and all of the persons who were mobilised for this project.

Thanks to all of you, the hospitalisation of our children will be rich in colour and in stories...

"The most magical is the look in the eyes of the children and their parents when they see the paintings ...
We are there; there are stars in their eyes... they too dream...

So this makes me want only one thing... to pass on that magic and repeat it elsewhere!”

see all the testimony here !
